About Me
My Crafting Journey
Hello all, and thanks for stopping by. My name is Doenene, which pronounced Dough-neen. My husband and I recently relocated from Portland, Oregon, to Ashville, North Carolina. I am constantly inspired by the nature that surrounds us, and we feel blessed to have new surroundings to explore. Here is a bit about my crafting background.
Where the journey began...
I started out crafting in the late 1990's - yes I have just dated myself. It was a co-worker who started me on my crafting journey. She was a Close to My Heart (CTMH) demonstrator. She said come to her house, bring a check book and some food for sharing with 10-12 ladies. The rest is crafting history as they say. That first card making class hooked me (and my wallet - haha). I eventually became a CTMH demonstrator myself, left CTHM, jumped over to Stampin' Up!, became a hobby demonstrator for them, left them, then I kind of burned out. I picked up other hobbies over the years; quilling, jewelry making, crocheting and knitting, but eventually I just stopped crafting altogether.
What brought me back to crafting was a birthday gift from my husband. He found a Creative Keepsake Convention, near us, and sent me off for an overnight stay with class money. I came home from that convention with a renewed joy and eagerness for creativity.
What I have learned is to focus on one or two hobbies that bring me joy. I have been, and likely always will be, a hobby card maker. I have joined several card swapping groups on Facebook, and I enjoy the "reason" to use my supplies. I have added rock painting in the last year, and participate in a local rock painting kindness community - hiding painted rocks randomly throughout the community.
Now if I could pick up organizing as a third hobby, I might be a complete person. :)
Thanks for stopping by, keep crafting!
